Newlyweds Share Their Wedding Night Brawl Story

POSTED: 12:16 pm EDT May 5, 2008
UPDATED: 10:20 pm EDT May 5, 2008

The story of a “wedding night fight” was revealed for the first time Monday from the bride and groom at the center of it all.

David and Christa Wielechowski want to set the record straight; that he never hit her, and they said they were the ones attacked at a Holiday Inn in Ross Township back in April.

The couple is facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting hotel guests and throwing metal planters. The two admitted that they were intoxicated and loud. But they said the damage and embarrassment is far worse.

"I just want everyone to know that he's not this horrible monster that everyone is making him out to be,” said Christa Wielechowski.

Witnesses and the police report claim that Dr. David Wielechowski karate-style kicked his wife in the hallway of the hotel on their wedding reception night.

While they continue to dispute that and claim to be the victims of at least two men who fought with them, they also worry what the explosive incident is doing to their reputations.

David Wielechowski has been unable to treat his dental patients since the incident. And while he's aware of just one patient leaving his practice, he worries the negative attention will hurt his young dental practice.

While the police report and witnesses describe them as angry and combative, the Wielechowskis said their wedding photos tell the story.

"We're very playful, always fake tripping each other. We like to have fun; we like to laugh,” Christa Wielechowski explained.

Christa Wielechowski said the hurtful response from the community is ruining their brand-new lives together, leaving them in a state of defense and fear because they have been receiving death threats.

David Wielechowski said he plans to begin seeing patients on Wednesday.

The couple heads to court for a preliminary hearing on May 28.
