Pittsburgh -- The rising cost of food, oil and ethanol is affecting another favorite product, beer.Brewers say the price of raw ingredients are climbing.Global demand and a bad crop year in Europe and Australia have tightened supplies for hops, barley and wheat.Combine that with a hike in transportation costs and beer producers, big and small are forced to raise prices.Scott Smith, of the East End Brewery said, "it's been getting really challenging for the small brewer. Between malt prices and hop prices and hop scarcity, I've had to take the price up on my flagship beer by 20%."Retail analysts estimate consumers are paying roughly a dollar more for a pint of beer.
