FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police have released the name of the man killed in a car accident in Westmoreland County.

Troopers said 83-Year-Old Earl West pulled out of his driveway along Route 711 and into the path of a coal truck Tuesday afternoon.

The truck slammed into the driver's side of West's car, flipping it onto its side.

The car then collided with a utility pole and a pine tree.

West was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 711 was shut down for a short time while investigators recreated the accident.

It has since reopened.
