WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- After much discussion on the future of Pittsburgh’s beloved Kennywood Park, Parques Reunidos of Spain made a final agreement on Wednesday to purchase the park.

Owners and beneficiaries of the co-creators voted tremendously in support of the transaction.

They have received permission from the Federal Trade Commission but are awaiting approval from a state agency in Connecticut. The sale is projected to close on June 3, after Connecticut state consent.

The sale will include Kennywood Park, Idlewild Park and SoakZone, Sandcastle, Lake Compounce Theme Park in Connecticut and Story Land in New Hampshire.
