Fire Guts Historic Home In Lawrence County

Family Vows To Rebuild

A candle started a fire that damaged an historic home in Lawrence County.

The fire at the house on Route 388 in Slippery Rock Township started around 11 p.m. Wednesday night in an upstairs bedroom.

The Hill family escaped unharmed.

They say the home is about 200-years-old that has historic value to the family.

The couple managed to save some letters that date back to 1819 and other letters from the Civil War.

Damage was contained to the upstairs, and the family plans to rebuild.
