MT. PLEASANT, Pa. -- Police say 56-year-old Paul Maher, of Ontario, Canada, drove 600 miles to Mt. Pleasant to meet with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl, but turned out to be an undercover officer.According to a criminal complaint, Maher had been involved in a number of online chat sessions with the undercover officer.The complaint states Maher's vehicle was spotted Friday morning near a Mt. Pleasant convenience store where he had arranged a meeting with the officer he thought was a teenager named Jess.Police say Maher never showed for the meeting.After his arrest in New York police say he admitted he was scared off after noticing he was being followed.The case is now in federal court in Pittsburgh.
