Pittsburgh Police Target Aggressive Drivers

Focus Also On Pedestrian Safety

Thursday, July 3, 2008 – updated: 6:24 pm EDT July 3, 2008

Pittsburgh Police and PennDOT are targeting aggressive drivers this holiday weekend.

Officers are out in force on the South Side Thursday as part of the Smooth Operator program, which is a statewide public safety initiative.

They are paying particular attention to how aggressive driving affects pedestrians.

Since 2003, more than 50 pedestrians have been struck by vehicles along East and West Carson Streets.
