Deadly Monroeville Shooting Getaway Car Recovered In Wilkinsburg

MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny County detectives got a major clue on Tuesday in a shooting that left a father of three dead early Monday morning in Monroeville.Investigators said two men ambushed Andrew Kane, 25, of Verona, as he pulled into his girlfriend's driveway along Field Stone Drive in his black BMW.Police said the suspects shot Kane and fled in a silver PT Cruiser. The suspects got away after police chased them through Wilkinsburg and Penn Hills.Detectives immediately put out a description of the PT Cruiser bearing plate number GNV 8214. On Tuesday, a concerned Wilkinsburg resident spotted the vehicle along McNary Boulevard and notified police.During the chase, police said at least one man in the car fired shots at officers.Freda and Chuck Smith live across the street from where their neighbor found the car. Both said they are surprised the car was found in their neighborhood.“I'm not quite sure what's all going on,” said Freda Smith. “You know, it doesn't make you feel too safe."Police continue to search for the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
