Thursday, July 17, 2008 – updated: 2:09 pm EDT July 18, 2008

Two people were electrocuted and one person was injured during what police called an accident in Murrysville Thursday morning.

According to police, the roofers were working along McCloy Avenue near Old William Penn Highway when a set of aluminum scaffolding collapsed, striking a 12,000 volt power line. Police said electricity traveled down the line and into the ground where the workers were standing.

Two of the workers were pronounced dead at the scene. The third was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital.

The victims who died of electrocution are 52-year-old James Bolen, of Jeannette, and 50-year-old William McNemar, of Turtle Creek.

McNemar's brother, James McNemar, is said he is devastated.

"William was just a good kid all the way around, he had everything going for him, his whole future," said McNemar.

The third victim, 49-year-old Scott Basch, was in critical condition at UPMC Mercy Thursday evening.

Basch and McNemar were neighbors. Their neighbors were stunned by what happend.

"They were just very nice men. Billy would've done anything for anybody. We'll all miss him and I don't know what else to say about all that," said neighbor Tina Porter.

Police said two other workers at the site walked away unharmed. Those workers spoke with OSHA investigators who responded to the scene. The company did not respond to Channel 11 requests for comment.
