Cats Taken From Tiger Ranch Recovering At Clarion Shelter

Four months ago hundreds of cats were removed from the Tiger Ranch Cat Sanctuary near Tarentum.

The ranch owner, Linda Bruno, was charged with hundreds of counts of animal cruelty.

But what has happened to the animals?

Because the Tiger Ranch cats were sick and dying, they've been under quarantine at the former SPCA shelter in Clarion County.

For the first time since they were seized during that raid, Channel 11 has exclusive video of the cats.

Target 11 investigator Karen Welles and her photographer were allowed into the shelter to see how those cats are doing.

Investigators said of the 406 cats found alive during the raid at the cat sanctuary 250 survived.

Veterinarian Becky Morrow said, "I called the little kittie Ju Ju Bee and she had meningitis and I really thought I could get her better and she went into respiratory arrest one night and I did CPR. I couldn't get her back."

Workers and volunteers have been working around the clock to get the cats healthy.

Morrow said, "They had pretty much everything against them. They suffered from a virulent systemic colisi virus, which is one of the worst, if not the worst, viral infection I ever had to deal with."

Some even had to have limbs amputated.

Morrow said, "The infection that was in her knee joint was so severe that it completely destroyed the joint."

Wendy Evans is director of the shelter.

She said, "When these cats first came they wouldn't move."

For now, the cats will stay at the shelter as evidence in the case against Bruno.

She faces hundreds of counts of animal cruelty.

If Bruno is found guilty, photos of the cats will be placed on petfinder.com.

If anyone who took their cats to Tiger Ranch finds a match on the Web site they can claim them if they have proof of ownership.

The rest of the cats will be adopted out.
