Verdict Decided In Trial Of W. Mifflin Officer

PITTSBURGH -- A jury has decided the fate of a West Mifflin police officer Wednesday morning.Noel Missig faced several charges, but was not convicted everything.Of the 9 charges, Missig was found guilty of tampering with public records, unsworn falsification to authorities, simple assault, official oppression, and false swearing.He was found innocent of perjury, and obstructing the law.The charges stem from three separate investigations. In one case, Missig was accused of beating up and planting evidence on a juvenile suspect.During the trial, Missig’s attorneys called to the stand an Allegheny County detective.He testified that an FBI agent asked him to “fabricate a story” about Missig, who was under investigation at the time.The FBI has not commented on this case.
