DUQUESNE, Pa. -- Neighbors along North 4th Street in Duquesne said they’ve reached the peak of their frustration over work being done on their street.Residents lost water service Thursday afternoon and service was not returned until Saturday at 4 p.m.Neighbors told Channel 11 that the street has been blocked to traffic since a rainstorm a month ago. That led to a broken sewer line. Then they said when crews tried to fix the problem, gas and water lines were accidentally broken in the process. Now neighbors have to get their water from a hose stretched down from the next street and carry it home in a bucket.Lori Sloan normally runs a day care out of her house, but she has had to turn kids away. She and others said they’re upset over the lack of communication and help from borough officials responsible for the work.“It’s a necessity. Without having water, the children can’t drink. We need our water,” said Sloan. The mayor is out of town until Sunday.Duquesne councilwoman Barbara Lane called Channel 11 to say that homeowners have had cases of water delivered to them while they've been without water service.
