NWS Confirms Tornado In Butler County

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. -- During a line of strong storms Tuesday night, a National Weather Service representative confirmed that a tornado formed in Butler County near Moraine State Park.Rich Kane of the National Weather Service told Channel 11 News that the tornado is believed to have formed near Moraine State Park close to routes 422 and 488.Kane described the tornado as an EF-0, which is the weakest of all tornados.Trained weather spotters reported seeing funnel clouds as wind, hail and rain pounded Butler, Lawrence and Armstrong counties.Despite the intensity of the storms, only minor damage was reported.In Lawrence County, a downed tree blocked drivers on Rt. 224 in Edinburg.In Mahoning Township, a tree fell on a car full of people. Everyone was able to escape safely.
