A judge has sentenced a convicted graffiti artist who has done a record amount of damage in Pittsburgh to a minimum of 2½ years and a maximum of five years in a state facility.

In May, Daniel Montano, 22, pleaded guilty to multiple acts of graffiti vandalism. He faced a maximum sentence of 130 years in prison and a $300,000 fine.

The judge also ordered Montano to pay restitution to property owners to cover the cost of repairs.

His most recognized tag, “MFONE,” can be found throughout Pittsburgh, authorities say.

Police said they tied Montano to crimes over the past two years worth more than $500,000 worth of damage.

He has admitted to spray-painting buildings and homes in Oakland, Shadyside, Bloomfield and Lawrenceville.
