SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. -- Tanger Factory Outlet Mall and South Strabane Township in Washington County are counting on an estimated 4.5 million shoppers annually.Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Kotula said the influx of shoppers will cause some traffic problems. "It will be a little rocky with traffic patterns and that but it will work out in the long term benefit," he said. The immediate benefit has already been seen with 250 construction jobs that were created and the 800 retail positions coming when it opens. Kotula said there will also be more growth coming to that area. “We have had been in contact with numerous hotels and other restaurants that want to come in and take advantage of that hotspot which is on racetrack road."But he is betting on the fact racetrack road won't be the only stop shoppers make in Washington County. "They are going to come in and experience our restaurants, other retail destinations, other stores, Washington County's history and culture. We really feel this is going to be a huge benefit and opportunity for Washington county as well," said Kotula. The mall is scheduled to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 29.
