PENN HILLS, Pa. -- An accident in Penn Hills Sunday evening caused power outages and several road closures, some of which continued into Monday.

Police told Channel 11 News that a 70-year-old woman hit a guide rail and a telephone pole while turning along Long Road in Penn Hills. She was not seriously hurt.

The crash, however, knocked down power lines and forced the road closures, police said.

The intersections affected included Frankstown and Beulah roads, Long and Pentland and Beulah and McCrady.

"You know, a lot people that come up over this hill, they fly down that road. It's like even in the wintertime, and they're going so fast they can't stop sometimes. But I don't know what happened in this case here," said driver Dave Anderson

Thousands of drivers typically use Beulah Road every day to get to the Parkway East or leave Churchill to get to Route 28.

The roadways reopened before noon on Monday.
