Some Think Westmoreland Co. Church Front For Swingers Club

Some Westmoreland County residents believe a couple running a church is actually operating a swinger's club instead.

However, the Rev. John Ondrik of the Church of Spiritual Humanities told Channel 11 News that's not true and that he is strictly operating the North Huntingdon church.

North Huntingdon Township officials disagree though, saying they were alerted to a Web site for Swingers Palace, which is operated at 4500 Turner Valley Road.

Planning director Alan Blenko said just a week ago, the site operating as an apparent sex club listed its prices, which were $50 for a couple, $75 for a single man and no charge for women.

"If they want to have a swingers club, they need to go to a metropolitan area where they can do that, not out here," said one neighbor. "There are children out here."

"Neighbors say they've been dealing with this alleged swingers club for years," said neighbor Henry Stanley Jr. "They don't necessarily have a problem with the activity. However, they say it's a business that clearly doesn't belong in a residential area."

The township cited the owner of the property, John Walkmeyer Jr., and told him to cease operations and close the business.

But Channel 11 also discovered that property is not the only thing Walkmeyer owns. He also owns the swingers Web site domain.

But Ondrik said he has a land contract on the property from Walkmeyer, and he is currently using the building.

"I feel horrible," said Ondrik. "I can't believe that people would do stuff like this. They all assume it's a sex club from back in the 70s, and they want the building bulldozed without know the truth."

Ondrik said a picture of him and his wife that appeared on the same Web site had been stolen from the church.

"I got on the Internet, found the facts, the truth who owns that Web site and none of those documents have my name on it," he said. "The truth will prevail and religion will win."
