Route 8 Shut Down For Hours After Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident

HARRISVILLE, Pa. -- State police said Route 8, at the Butler-Venango County line, was shut down for hours as they investigated a fatal accident.A father of a 20-month-old girl was killed after his car swerved into the path of a tractor-trailer, police said. The girl and her mother, both of whom were also in the car, remarkably survived.Police said that the car crossed the center line several times on Route 8, a two-lane road, before driving into an oncoming tractor-trailer.The truck driver, driving out of Grove City, was not at fault, state police said. He suffered minor injuries in the collision.
