MOUNT PLEASANT -- Jeanne Phillips and her husband,Dick, were shocked when they found more than 800 gallons of home heating oil had been stolen from the underground tank at their Mount Pleasant home.Phillips thinks the thief could be someone they know. “Obviously you can't just come up to the house and do this. You'd have to know when we're not here,” she said. The heating oil cost almost $3,000 and now they have spend another $3,000 to replace the stolen oil.Mount Pleasant police said it's the first such theft they've seen, but are worried this might become a trend. The Phillipes have surveillance cameras, but aren't sure they recorded the thefts. The video has been given to state police. In the meantime, Jeanne Phillips said she's praying for the thief. “We just kind of pray the Lord's going to help us through it and touch their hearts too. Whether they confess and somehow their life's going to be turned around,” she said.
