Proposed West End Strip Club Arouses Neighborhood Concern

At least one neighborhood group and a city councilman are displeased that exotic dancers and booze will be available steps away from an alcoholism recovery center on the West End.

Patrick Risha, 26, of Belle Vernon, asked the Pittsburgh Planning Commission to approve his plan to open a strip club on West Carson Street near the West End Bridge on Tuesday.

He said the business could benefit from the clientele of the North Shore casino set to open August 2009 on the opposite side of the Ohio River.

The planning commission will review Risha’s plans at a public hearing set for Nov. 4.

City Council must approve the application as well.
