PITTSBURGH -- A man and his cat escaped a house fire in Verona overnight.

The fire started in the living room of a house along Allegheny River Boulevard.

The fire marshal said the fire started in the living room couch.

Firefighters brought the fire under control before the flames could spread to a nearby auto parts store.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
