The Meadows Racetrack and Casino is doing its part to help families in need this Thanksgiving.

The casino is providing 1,000 turkeys to the Greater Washington County Food Bank.

The donation comes in response to a request from state Rep. Tim Solobay, who serves on the board of directors of the food bank and assists with its annual Thanksgiving "2000 Turkeys" Food Drive. The turkeys will be delivered to the food bank on Nov. 12 and 19.

Every Wednesday during the month of November, The Meadows is also hosting a canned food drive that will benefit the food bank.

The Meadows rewards up to $25 in free play to customers who donate canned goods at its Players Club. So far, nearly 15,000 cans have been donated.
