Teen Admits Kidnap, Sexual Assault Story Was All A Hoax

The 15-year-old girl who initially claimed to have been kidnapped and sexually assaulted later said that she made up the story.

After a thorough investigation into this case and further interviews with the victim, Sex Assault and Family Crisis detectives learned on Thursday afternoon that the reported kidnapping and rape of a teen never occurred.

The teen admitted to detectives that she made up the whole story after having stayed out past her curfew, and she was afraid to go home.

The girl initially had police searching for a man who she claimed had abducted her on the North Side and then beat and sexually assaulted her in a warehouse.

She had told police that the man struck up a conversation with her, telling her he knew her family, before beating her several times and then pulling her into the car he was driving Wednesday night along Fleming Avenue.

Police found the girl after motorists saw her "looking distressed" along Route 65 near the McKees Rocks Bridge.

She had given police a detailed description of the man and his car before later admitting that it was all a hoax.

SAFC has referred the family to several Social Service agencies for assistance. No charges will be brought against the juvenile.
