Illegal Gambling Machines Seized From Pittsburgh Bars

Pittsburgh police seized 10 illegal gambling machines from three area bars on Thursday.

Public Information Officer Diane Richard reported that police received numerous complaints from family members whose loved ones have lost large amounts of money playing on machines at various locations throughout the city.

In addition to the machines, police took more than $3,200 and other gambling paraphernalia from the Brookline Pub on Brookline Boulevard, Mr. Bill's Tap & Grill on Perrysville Avenue, and Down the Road Saloon on Beck's Run Road.

Police are asking the public to report establishments that operate illegal gambling, and they encourage establishments that operate illegal machines to remove them from service.

The Pittsburgh Police Vice Squad received a state grant of $180,000 in January, which has helped them to increases their efforts. Video slot machines and other electronic amusement devices become illegal when patrons are paid for their winnings.
