West Brownsville Firefighter Accused Of More Arsons

The streets of tiny West Brownsville are dotted with fire damage and burned-out buildings.

Since July, the town’s Volunteer Fire Department has been extra busy putting out a string of arson fires.

One of their own, 22-year-old fire captain Brian Dunker, said he's to blame.

Last week, Dunker was charged with setting two fires, and Wednesday in court 10 additional counts of arson and related charges were brought against him.

Dunker confessed to setting each fire, including one next door to his own home.

Dunker's alleged arson spree began in July. In some cases he confessed to starting the fires with lit flares. He even hit his own fire house, telling investigators he ignited two envelopes and put them along the back of the building.

The arson terrorized the neighbors of West Brownsville, but their fear has turned to shock.

“He's a very good kid, very well rounded. It's hard for me to believe,” said Dunker’s friend Brandon Sutherland.
