Who Are The Top 50 Figures In Pittsburgh History?

Who are the Top 50 figures in the Pittsburgh area’s history? Channel 11 tackled this meaty, mysterious question in a one-hour special that was part of our region’s star-studded 250-year history.

The program, hosted by WPXI-TV News anchors Darieth Chisolm, Peggy Finnegan, David Johnson and Channel 11 Sports Director John Fedko, aired on Dec. 19.

"50 Best in Pittsburgh’s 250 Fest" counted down the leading figures in our area’s history from 50 all the way to No. 1.

The program was part of WPXI’s contribution to Pittsburgh’s 250th birthday celebration.

Several legendary Pittsburgh faces were interviewed as part of the show, including WDVE’s Jim Krenn, former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff, Pittsburgh rock legends Donny Iris, B.E. Taylor and Scott Blasey of the Clarks, JoAnne Rogers, wife of the late Fred Rogers, Tunch Ilkin and many others.
