PITTSBURGH -- The First Commonwealth Bank sent a letter to customers recently after they were notified by MasterCard of a security breach by a retail merchant.

The trouble, one customer said, is that the bank won't tell customers which merchant was breached.

"It just seems silly that they won't tell you who it is so that you could protect yourself," said customer George Radish. "Maybe I'd go pay cash. Maybe I wouldn't go to that store anymore."

According to the letter from the bank, Radish said he will be getting a replacement debit card with new security numbers but not until Feb. 4.

Until then, he said he is free to use his old debit card, which is the one that the bank said might have been compromised.

"It's only potential fraud, so they feel that if anything happens in the next two weeks that it's only potential," said Radish.

When Channel 11 contacted officials at First Commonwealth, they said they "began taking measures immediately to assure the safety and security of our clients by replacing or destroying compromised cards as quickly as possible."
