Car Falls Hundreds Of Feet From Turnpike

An accident on the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass in Westmoreland County had rescue workers busy for hours Saturday night.

Emergency responders on scene reported that a vehicle drove through a guard rail in the northbound lanes.

The car then fell several hundred feet down a steep hill and landed in a ravine.

Two occupants were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals.

One man was crawling up the hill when firefighters arrived. The other was trapped and need help getting out of the vehicle.

There is no final word on what caused the accident, but witnesses report the roads are very icy in that area.
