LaVoie had left the school during a week-long break, and the teen’s parents called police when they suspected their son had left with her.“We received a complaint from the parents who had some concerns about a relationship that was building between that student and a teacher,” said Holyoke Mayor Michael Sullivan. “We tried to contact the teacher. The teacher was nowhere to be found.”West Virginia authorities discovered the teacher and the missing student at the motel."We located the suspect's vehicle," said Cpl. Thomas Goodnight, of the W.Va. State Police. "(We) learned it was rented to the suspect, verified the information they were staying there, went to the room and took them into custody.""This is a violation of trust on behalf of this particular teacher," said Sullivan. "That is not something that we should take lightly, and really do have to learn from this, learn from this whole experience on how we will handle this and how we will avoid experiences like this in the future."Police said the boy shows no outward signs of physical abuse.
