All Charges Dropped Against Wilkinsburg Teacher In Assault Case

A judge dismissed charges against a local teacher on Thursday that could have sent him to jail.

All charges were dropped against Michael Kosor, a fifth-grade math teacher at Kelly Elementary in Wilkinsburg. He had been accused of inappropriately touching one of his students in the boys' bathroom.

During the preliminary hearing, the boy testified someone touched his buttocks, at which point he pulled up his pants and ran out of the restroom. He testified that he didn't know who touched him and didn't see his teacher in the bathroom.

Police arrested Kosor after a parent told authorities the 10-year old boy had been touched by his math teacher.

Kosor’s attorney said the experience was traumatic for Kosor and his daughter.

“It was very difficult for Michael after he was put through the rigors of being arrested. He was arrested at home,” said defense attorney Michael Santicola. “He was arrested at home. That didn’t have to happen, but it did. He was handcuffed in front of his daughter."
