Canton Twp. Crash Kills 2, Injures 1

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A head-on crash claimed the lives of two people in Washington County over the weekend.The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday along Route 40 in Canton Township. A pickup truck and a car collided near Chestnut Street.The Washington County coroner identified the victims as Joshua Lowery, 23, of Canton Township and Howard Rood, 63, of South Franklin Township.State Police said Lowery was a passenger in the pickup and Rood was the driver of the car.The pickup driver, Todd Drilak, 21, of Washington, was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for unspecified injuries.Police said Drilak's pickup crossed the center line while negotiating a bend and collided with Rood's car.The road was closed for three hours following the crash.
