Sneak Peek Of New Children's Hospital

Posted: 10:49 pm EDT April 5, 2009Updated: 10:04 am EDT April 6, 2009

The new Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville was designed with the help of input from patients and families

It has several new features including more private rooms, better parking, and better navigation for patients.

A cool looking kid's playroom called Austin's awaits the busy hustle of children who will call it a room away from home.

A maze like floor in the atrium will undoubtedly keep some little ones busy for a while.

Drop down motion picture screens from these windows will provide viewing entertainment for people passing by along three balconies.

The Howard Hanna healing garden will host outdoor sun and fun activities.

These are all great enhancements for sick patients and their families who will soon make use of the new Children's Hospital by May 2nd.

It has taken a while to build, but it will be worth the wait for some patients and their families.

The current location in Oakland is difficult to navigate, but now after eight years of planning, the modern 1.5 million square foot campus will be easy to get around and patients may find it useful in other ways as well.

The hallways are adorned in bold red, yellow, orange, and blue colors.

At a price tag of $622 million, the Lawrenceville location has three garages, and one exclusively for emergency and outpatient visitors.

Perhaps most importantly, it will be a high tech medical facility.

The new hospital is on the site of the former St. Francis Medical Center.
