Drug Raid Nets Suspect Near Mount Lebanon High School

Updated: 6:07 pm EDT April 17, 2009

A SWAT team was called in to raid a house across the street from a high school in Mount Lebanon Thursday night during a drug raid.

The team, made up of Pittsburgh police, Mount Lebanon police and Allegheny County officers, entered the Cochran Road home using a battering ram at about 8 p.m.

When authorities arrived, they used a loudspeaker to let the suspects know they were outside the home.

Police said the order, "Pittsburgh Police … we have a search warrant ... surrender the residence," was announced several times, but no one inside responded, so authorities broke down the door.

Once inside, police said they found numerous drugs, including crack cocaine, oxycodone and hydrocodine. U.S. and Jordanian money and cell phones were also found, police said.

Rashid Boumasoud was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He is charged with possession of cocaine, oxycodone and other drugs.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud noise from a flash-bang grenade, too.

Students attending a night class across the street at Mount Lebanon High School witnessed the whole ordeal.

Parents Channel 11 talked to said they were stunned to hear about the arrest.

"I'm glad that he was caught and we're very fortunate in Mt. Lebanon that we have such a great police force, that we generally take care of these things and hopefully he'll be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said parent Margaret Izzo.
