PITTSBURGH -- A Pittsburgh-area man has walked himself to a major weight-loss.Nearly a year, ago McKeesport native Jim Obley said he could barely walk from his house to his car. The former diabetic suffered from high blood pressure and weighed 321 pounds."I used to get out of breath going up steps real easy," said Obley. The extra weight started breaking his body down, Obley said, which meant it was time for a change.

"I was totally destroying it, the extra weight on my heart and on my knees," he said. Then something happened: Obley's car broke down, forcing him to walk everywhere."What kept me going is I had a weight-loss amount every month," he said.Despite the weather, Obley walked uphill, downhill, against traffic and along the railroad tracks."I started walking every day like an hour, hour and a half, two hours," said Obley. And if he needed something from the store or anywhere else, Obley said he would walk to get it."If I need stuff from the store, I'll carry four of five bags back," he said.Eventually, the pounds started coming off and the clothes started getting too big for Obley. In all, Obley said he's lost about 146 pounds. His current weight is 175."I used to be a 46 waist in 2005, and I'm a 31-32 waist now," said Obley. He said his doctor is stunned."He said I lost it so gradually, I didn't need to have the surgery from the overhang," said Obley.Obley's son, Dustin, is just as shocked at the results. "I remember he took up the whole couch," said Dustin Obley.Dustin said it was an amazing transformation, and he's thrilled his can play sports with his dad now."We can actually do stuff together," Dustin Obley said.Jim Obley said he is no longer a diabetic and feels like a completely changed man."Now, I'm able to do things like a 20-year-old or teenager. It's like I feel like a kid again," he said.
