Mourners Remember Plum Teen Killed In Lower Burrell Crash

LOWER BURRELL, Pa. -- Funeral services were held today for a teenager killed in violent crash in Lower Burrell last week.Michael McGuire, 18, of Plum, was killed, and five other people were hurt, when the pickup truck in which they were riding flipped over on Wildlife Lodge Road late Wednesday night.McGuire, a senior who was set to graduate from Plum High School in a few weeks, was riding in the bed of the truck when he was thrown from the vehicle, investigators said.“People described him as a big teddy bear,” said classmate Rob Bergamasco. “He was always real friendly … nice, outgoing kid. He always told jokes. I liked him a lot, and I just think it’s a tragedy what happened to him.”"He was very well-liked, very amiable," said Dawn Check, of the Plum School District. "His nickname was 'Bubba.' His presence is going to be missed."Officials said McGuire was the only Plum student involved in the crash. All of the others were from Lower Burrell and New Kensington.Shane Quigley, 18, of Lower Burrell, and Alex Lewis, of New Kensington, were also injured in the crash. They were both taken to local hospitals with injuries. Police said they were in the bed of the truck with McGuire.Officials said Lewis is in critical but stable condition. There is no word on Quigley’s condition.Christopher Matisko, 18, of New Kensington, was driving the truck. He's listed in good condition.Jason Weng and Elise Allen, both of Lower Burrell, were also in the cab of the truck. Local hospitals did not release their conditions Thursday.
