Miracle League Field Opens In Butler County

It was a great day for baseball for children who otherwise would probably not get the chance to take the field.

Local chidlren in Cranberry attended the opening day of the first 'Miracle League' field .

This special team moment will remain in parents' minds for a lifetime.

"They don't want the parents involved. They want the families to sit back and watch their kids do what every other kid does. It's priceless," said Greg DiTullio.

At six years old, Riley DiTullio wants to do all the things her able brother and sister do all the time.

Saturday, she and all the others got that swing and a base hit.

Whether you run to first base or roll to steal home, these are kids no matter what their handicap and they want to play ball. It's baseball with no boundaries.

This is a Miracle League Field in Cranberry Township, one of a kind in the region.

Hundreds came to watch the first game. This is just the beginning of something special.

The entire field is made of a synthetic surface to make it possible for all children to get around.

Pirates Charities contributed $200,000 to the construction of the field.

That includes a $50,000 donation from Pirates second baseman Freddy Sanchez and his wife Alissa.
