PITTSBURGH -- A Highlands High School teacher's aide pleads guilty to 11 counts, including involuntary sexual deviant intercourse with a minor, in a plea deal with prosecutors on Tuesday.

Abbie Swogger, 35, is accused of renting a New Kensington hotel room and partying with several teens, including two runaway girls.

Swogger will receive three to six years in prison, 36 years of probation, and she must register as a sex offender for life, as well.

She plead guilty on 11 counts against her, including involuntary sexual deviant intercourse with a minor. Seventeen other counts against her were withdrawn as part of the plea deal.

“I wanted to make sure she was not working with children anytime in the near future,” said assistant district attorney Laura Ditka. “These charges should preclude her from working with children for the entire time of her life. She doesn’t have good judgment when she has access to minors.”

In court Swogger addressed the judge saying, “I want to say I’m very sorry for hurting anyone. I’m sorry for not being the role model I should have been. I’m very, very sorry.”

Swogger was removed as a teacher’s aide after her arrest. The school had no comment about her sentencing, but a spokesperson told Channel 11 News there was an error in Swogger’s hiring.

The school did not comment specifically on the error, saying only the school has taken steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

A 17-year-old boy had said he had an ongoing sexual relationship with Swogger. He claimed that she gave him money to buy crack before going to the hotel. While at the party, the boy said Swogger was touching one of the girls on the thigh inappropriately.

Swogger had said, “They’re lying to save their butts from getting in trouble.”

She had denied all of the charges against her.

"I'm not guilty of what they're saying," Swogger had said. “It’s outrageous."

Teenage witnesses had said they knew Swogger from school and that, on a regular basis during a two-month span, she would drive a group of them around to drink beer and smoke marijuana that she paid for.

In a separate case, a 15-year-old boy had testified that at a Natrona Heights party at a teen friend’s house Swogger changed her jeans and shirt into a bra and underwear. He said that people were touching her everywhere and that he had sex with her that night.

Charges against Swogger included corruption of minors, deviate involuntary sexual intercourse, furnishing liquor to minors and endangering the welfare of children.
