Aliquippa Teen Struck, Killed By Classmate's Car Laid To Rest

Friends and family of a Beaver County teenager killed in a vehicle accident said their final goodbyes on Wednesday.

Tiquai Wallace, 14, was hit by car and pinned against a wall on Saturday, police said.

Police said the driver was a 17-year-old friend of Wallace and his family. Both the suspect and the victim attended the Church in the Round.

Police charged the Aliquippa sophomore as a juvenile with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. The victim’s family told Channel 11 they believe the accident was simply that, an accident.

“We’re not looking for him to be put away. Putting him away does not bring Tiquai back. It’s not going to help him any either,” said a cousin, Hope Iverson.

The victim’s father and grandmother told Channel 11 they agree. They didn't want to talk on camera, but said one life is gone, and another doesn't have to be ruined.

“They don't want charges pressed,” said friend Arnelle Dorsett.

The 17-year-old suspect had a juvenile hearing Tuesday morning and Channel 11 learned the victim’s mother was there asking a judge to drop some of the charges.

Aliquippa High School let its students out early Tuesday to help them deal with the tragedy.

The district posted this response on its Web site:

“As we enter the last week of school, our will is being tested and one's heart and soul cannot help but be challenged."
