Beaver Falls Man Charged In Attempted Luring

Posted: 7:27 am EDT June 4, 2009Updated: 8:11 am EDT June 4, 2009

A 51-year-old man accused of trying to lure an underage girl in Beaver Falls has been arrested.

Police said Donnie Dreher, 51, drove up to the girl, 15, twice, first asking her to get into his car. Police said the second time, he asked her how old she was and whether she was planning to skip school.

The ninth-grade Big Beaver Falls Area High School student went home and told her parents, police said. They arrested Dreher a few blocks from the girl's home.

One parent in the school district is especially concerned.

"It's 2009," said parent Eugene Garett. "You have too many sexual predators out there. And all the kids that are walking to school, young females, they don't care any more, and it's time for the community and the police to step up and try to secure the areas, especially in the school zone. A kid doesn't need to be lured into the vehicle on their way to school."

Police said they found a crack pipe in his Dreher's car. He was arrested and charged with luring a child, drug paraphernalia possession, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Police said he told them he did approach the girl but never asked her to get into his car.
