PITTSBURGH -- A security guard at a Pittsburgh high school is on leave pending an investigation into whether he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Police sources told Target 11 investigator Rick Earle the investigation is centering on a 16-year-old Taylor Allderdice High School student.

Earle was told the guard was suspended with pay, pending the investigation. The Pittsburgh police sex assault unit is handling the case.

"Whether it actually happened or not, time is going to tell. It's a shame in today's society that you have to worry about sending your child to a place where they are supposed to be cared for," said parent John Pistella.

The guard has been with the school district for eight years, authorities said.

Police sources said his cell phone was confiscated and text messages between the guard and the student were found.
