NEW BEAVER, Pa. -- A Lawrence County fire chief saves a family and three dogs from a burning home in his neighborhood Wednesday morning.Fire Chief Kevin Peters got a call reporting a fire shortly before 1 a.m. He was about to head to the fire station until he recognized the address in the 500 block of Possum Hollow Road in New Beaver Borough. When he arrived at the address, Peters told Channel 11 News that he could see flames spreading throughout the house. He broke down a door to get to a husband and wife who were asleep in a bedroom upstairs."Another five minutes I think the smoke would've overtaken them, and we'd be talking about fatalities," Peters said.Dispatch workers said the fire started in a shed and then spread to the house next door while the couple was asleep.Three dogs were also saved from the burning home. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
