A man was held for court on one count of criminal homicide in the stabbing death of his Beaver County landlord.

Benjamin Dennerlein, 33, is charged in the stabbing death of Elizabeth Grosskopf. Police said her body was found in a Freedom home where Dennerlein rented a room from Grosskopf.

Police said Grosskopf’s body was discovered by her ex-boyfriend, who reported her missing. When police searched her house, they found her body wrapped in a blanket in the attic stairway of the residence on May 13.

Dennerlein was behind bars at the time, on an unrelated charge, and had been there shortly after Grosskopf was found dead.

It was determined during the autopsy that Elizabeth Grosskopf died of multiple stab wounds to the head and neck, police said.

Dennerlein was captured by multiple video cameras making purchases or accessing money from Grosskopf's account using her debit card, police said. When he was interviewed, Dennerlein stated that he had removed the card from Grosskopf's purse, police said.

Grosskopf's blood and DNA were also found to be on the Dennerlein’s jeans after a lab analysis, police said.
