Water Buckles Street In McKees Rocks

A water main break buckled a street in McKees Rocks during the morning rush on Tuesday.

The break happened on Helen Street at about 8 a.m.

West View Water Authority officials managed to turn off the water before any homes in the area were damaged.

Sharon from West View Water Authority said that when the site was evacuated, it was found that it was the 10-inch water line that broke, not the 6-inch. It happened around 6:30 a.m., and now there are about 30 people without water. She said that within two to three hours the repairs should be completed.

The road still needs some repairs, but is expected to be back open Tuesday afternoon.
