Corvette Slams Into Washington County Homes

DUNLEVY, Pa. -- Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when a car slammed into a pair of houses in Dunlevy, Washington County.State police said a Corvette went out of control and grazed a concrete wall before it struck adjacent houses in the 5200 block of Route 88 near Dewey Street.The driver, whose name and condition have not been released, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital.Emma Sclafani, 77, was inside her Dunlevy apartment when the Corvette crashed into the side of her building."I was just lucky that I got away from it. It would have hit me or something," Sclafani said.Sclafani's right eye was injured and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.Both houses sustained significant damage, police said."My bedroom is completely flooded from the accident," said resident Lisa Evans. "My neighbor's kitchen is completely destroyed, and their bathroom, as well."The cause of the crash is under investigation.
