Pittsburgh Woman Wins Tickets To Jackson's Memorial, Can't Get Flight

The memorial service honoring the life of pop icon Michael Jackson will be held Tuesday in Los Angeles.

More than a million fans signed up over the Internet to win tickets to the event, but there were only about 9,000 lucky fans who were chosen.

Among the winners was Kelly Watson, of Canonsburg.

Watson said she was informed Sunday night that she won two tickets to the memorial event, but that she had to pick them up at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Monday.

Watson told Channel 11 News that she was unable to get a flight in time and will not be able to attend the service.

“We were looking at every option available to us to try to make it happen," she said. "With the timeframe of the flights and the deadline of getting to Dodgers Stadium to get the tickets, it just wasn’t going to happen.”

The memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Jackson family announced that participants will include Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Usher, Lionel Richie, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Martin Luther King III.
