2 gunshot victims found after police respond to ShotSpotter alert in Homewood

PITTSBURGH — A ShotSpotter alert led Pittsburgh police to two gunshot victims Friday night in the city’s Homewood neighborhood.

ShotSpotter alerted Zone 5 officers around 9:30 p.m. that seven shots had been detected in the 7700 block of Frankstown Avenue, authorities said. Police added that callers also notified 911 of shots fired in the area.

Officers found one man with multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk in the 800 block of Brushton Avenue, and a second was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his foot. The first man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Authorities said two vehicles and one home were also struck by gunfire.

Pittsburgh police are investigating.
