2 shot in Duquesne; no suspects named

Police are investigating a shooting in Duquesne that left two people injured.

The shooting was reported at 1:50 a.m. Friday in the area of the Kansaz City Saloon on Duquesne Boulevard, according to a news release from Allegheny County police.

Duquesne police found two men, ages 21 and 24, suffering from gunshot wounds in a car wash parking lot on Duquesne Boulevard.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where one was listed in critical but stable condition and the other was listed in stable condition. Officials said both are expected to survive.

Charlene Carter, who was in a nearby apartment, said she immediately took cover.

"I heard the yelling and then the gunshots. It sounded to me like six shots," she said. "I was scared. I didn't know what to do. I just hit the floor."

Another neighbor said a stray bullet became lodged in a window of her house, which is more than two blocks away.

"I said, 'No, that's a gunshot.' There was a bullet lodged in the glass right there, so we called the cops," said Lauren Schricker. "The cops were trying to push it through and it just kind of fell in."

Schricker said she heard six or eight "loud bangs." She got home a few minutes before the shots were fired.

"It's just like that one-in-a-million chance that makes you a little nervous because I was walking through right there five minutes before," Schricker said.

Allegheny County police have not released any information about possible suspects. Police asked anyone who was in the Kansaz City Saloon or in the parking lot at the time of the shooting to call the Allegheny County Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
