2 teens wounded in Highland Park shooting

PITTSBURGH — Two teens were wounded Saturday afternoon in a shooting in Highland Park, Pittsburgh police said.

Police said they received a ShotSpotter notification at 3:23 p.m. that seven rounds had been fired in the area of the 5000 block of Stanton Avenue.

Officers discovered two victims -- an 18-year-old from Homestead and a 17-year-old from Hazelwood -- on Samantha Way.

Paramedics transported the victims to UPMC Presbyterian, where they were last reported to be in stable condition.

Police said, according to the early stages of the investigation, the shots were fired near the intersection of Portland and Janero streets. Four males were seen running. Two of the four were shot.

A firearm, believed to have been discarded by one of the four, was found at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police.
