DUQUESNE, Pa. -- The Allegheny County Police have obtained an arrest warrant for the shooting death of Maurice Malachi.Homicide detectives are looking for 20-year-old Deandre Woods. He is described as a black male with cornrow style hair, although he may have cut his hair after the shooting to alter his identity. He is considered armed and dangerous.Woods is known to frequent the Mon Vue Heights housing complex in West Mifflin and has previously resided in several Pittsburgh area communities.Dorothy Thornton told Channel 11 she can't believe her 22-year-old son is gone.Police said Malachi was shot in the stomach on Duquesne Place Drive in Duquesne on July 9. He later died at the hospital.“You didn't just kill my baby, you killed a poet. You killed an artist. That's what they did, they killed an artist. They killed someone that was loving and compassionate," Thornton said.Thornton said her son had just finished a course at Job Corp and had taken some computer graphics classes at community college. He was sitting out to take care of his 16-month-old son.Family and friends are rallying around each other for support.“Like every brother and sister we bickered at each other but at the end of the argument or whatever it always ended with ‘I love you.’ My last words to Maurice were ‘I love you, I love you too big sis,’" said the victim’s sister, Kisha Bowles.“There is no reason my son is dead. No reason. I don't know what to tell these kids. I pray they put their weapons down," Thornton said.
