PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh building inspector cited the owner of a South Side home after its deck collapsed over the weekend.Several people were injured when the second-story deck collapsed Sunday morning at the home along Josephine Street. The owner has been given 15 days to fix the deck or he could face fines ranging from $50 to $1,000.The tenants and landlord are disputing the possible cause of the collapse."There were about five of us on the deck and next thing you know, my roommate Nick stepped out on the deck from my room, and it just collapsed right under us out of nowhere," said renter Brandon Weatherly. "We heard it creak and when you heard it creak, you went, 'Uh oh.'"Police said the deck fell from the second story onto a porch on the ground level. The renters claimed they complained to the landlord about the deck's condition and that it was never fixed. The landlord told Channel 11 News he made various repairs to the property over the last six months. He said he also got a call from neighbors, who complained about noise from the property Saturday night. The people who were injured only suffered minor bumps and bruises.
